I don't think there is a way. I was trying to do the same thing because I wanted to delete something I became a fan of. To do that, I went to the fan website, and underneath everything on the left hand-side, it says "remove me from fans". I think you can join and leave. You can't make it to where it doesn't show up when the public search your name. They need to fix that, what's the deal?
