How do I make Google Chrome a browser rather than an app? - AlexH - 05-05-2014 02:00 PM

My mother has a windows laptop that uses the app system, and when I downloaded Google chrome, rather than it becoming a browser, it became an app.
When I click on IE, I can still see the taskbar at the bottom. While I click on Google chrome, it opens up as a tab and the taskbar disappears. I would like to have Google chrome changed to how IE appears or is programmed. Boy, I never thought I'd say that sentence.
Interestingly enough, google chrome appears on the taskbar. When I right click on it, there are several different options that pop up. The ones that make the most sense to click on in hopes that a browser pops up are "New Window", which when clicked on does nothing, "New Incognito Window", which when clicked on does nothing, and "Google Chrome", which opens up the app form again.
I honestly have no problem with this, it's just a bit difficult to navigate, I admit. My mother on the other hand as serious issues with this and would like to have it fixed for her. I tried googling the problem with no avail, as this is a pretty narrow issue, so if anyone has a fix for this, I would like to hear your solution.
Also, I know there is a way to do this, as Google chrome was at one point a browser, but then the hard drive to the computer was wiped, causing me to re-download it. Perhaps when I downloaded it again it was an updated version of Google Chrome?

You have to set Google Chrome as the default browser in Chrome settings.
