I ofteb keep my laptop and mobile connected to internet but doing nothing on internet. So, no DATA IS TRANSMITTING. But DOES IT CONSUMES BATTERY POWER TO JUST GET CONNECTED?

You are keeping internet alive, but that doesn't mean you are using your computer. If you shut your computer down , no battery will be lost regardless of the connectivity.

Only if were talking tablets, but laptops battery's won't really drain from being connected to the internet.

yes it does, your WiFi adapter will keep communicating with the router and stay powered, consuming battery power.

if you want to save battery power, put the laptop to 'power saving' mode in the power options that are in the control panel, this will reduce power consumption.

If your laptop is turned on, it is consuming power... connected to the internet, or not.
