you can block the any friend by right click on that friend and click of block. or just unfriend it

well what you are looking for is the "Following " option. Go to your friends profile. There are three buttons on their cover picture. One of them being "Following". Just click it and it will show "Follow" which means you won't see any of their post on your news feed.

You could add them to the restricted list or select "don't show in newsfeed", or "unfollow" them.
