I'm having problems with Google Chrome and was told that Internet Explorer was not going to be around for much longer. So, I would like to have a back up just in case.

Do you mean browser, rather than search engine? Try reinstallling Chrome. I don't use Firefox as it still has too many memory problems with Flash. Keep IE - it'll be around for a while yet.
