There are many different type of websites, but some websites only related to a business.
Submit your website in different sites (include google) with your business address, contact details.
If you submit like this, if anyone clicked related with your business google display (categories) your website and display top position (if it's good optimized website).
for example http://www.tajhotels.com is only related to a business website.
Submit your website in Yelp, myspace, yahoo, bing and promote to write reviews to get top position on your website. Some websites are free and paid.

Business listing is a facility to list your business to get improvement or promotion of your business/website.
you can submit your business to yahoo, google, yelp to promote your business online. Some gives you free listing and some are paid.
Better to submit your business in free listing. If you have money then you can also go for paid one.
If you think you want to promote your business then list your website in business listing directories.
