why does the stuff i view on other websites pop up on Facebook as ads? - 318 - 05-10-2014 05:09 PM

i was shopping for something online and i notice what looking at on the website popped up on Facebook as an ad. another time when i was looking at Hotels to stay at and next thing i know i see Ortiz, Expedia etc on my facebook and i just want to know is there any way i can get it to stop doing that.

that is because of the cookie tracking, if you want the not to pop-ups, disable third-party cookie tracking from browser options OR open those links in "Incognito window"

Just install ad blocker from google web store on your chrome and it will block all the pop ups.

Major websites nowadays log everything you view, and they use this data in association with advertising companies to show ads relevant to your interests.

They use either cookies to personalise the ads to your specific computer, however some companies don't use that simply because it'll reset whenever the cookie expires or you clear your cookies. Other companies use IP addresses, which, if the IP address is static, will reset far less often. Also, some companies use a combination of the two.

Because Those Sites Probably Paid Facebook $ To Display There Ads on the Site There is Nothing you Can Do To Stop What Ads Are Being Seen On Facebook Unless you Install Ad Blocker Add On Onto your Browser

It's because of publicity and making position in market.
Facebook is a hub of all these type of activity.
