How harmful is this lifestyle? - Monkeywrench Skywalker - 05-11-2014 11:08 AM

I'm a 20 year old guy. Have no friends. I've been friendless since I was 17. 17 was when I homeschooled so I didn't get the chance to meet any new people. At that age I also developed social anxiety so when I went to highschool one year later, I did not make any friends because I sort of lost all my social skills. Basically I've been friendless for the past 3 years...never had anyone to hang out with or talk to. No girlfriend. The only people I talk to are my parents, asking questions to my teachers and saying hi to the cashier at the supermarket.

In my spare time I exercise, play video games, play guitar or watch movies. I use Facebook a lot to talk to my old friends. Those friends are friends I made a long time ago in my life and I still talk to them through the internet, but I never meet them in real life because they're in different cities. It's also interesting to note that I watch P0rn every day to fulfill my need for sexual intimacy since I don't have a girlfriend. And this actually seems to fulfill that need properly because my mind has become accustomed to using P0rn as a substitute for sex and what's really freaky is that I no longer find the need to get a real woman as long as I have P0rn.

There are some times where I feel lonely and want to get friends and a girlfriend but I have sort of gotten used to this isolated lifestyle.

Please Don't say stuff like " go see a therapist ". I want to know how harmful this life is and what its doing to me?

start drinking and clubbing, social skills will develop on their own.

As long as you're not being complacent with being isolated, it's ok to enjoy things you're doing. I'd try get out there and introduce yourself to new people though, it could get you out of anxiety. If it's hard, take a look into CBT and mindfulness as a help Smile

you play guitar, are you any good? Look up bands looking for guitar players.
