How do I cancel a bid on eBay? - Amy - 05-11-2014 04:35 PM

I have placed a bid at £25 for something when I got it from another seller for £18. I'd like to cancel my bid but have never done it on eBay before. How do I cancel the bid? Thanks.

When you place a bid on eBay, you enter a binding contract. However, it's possible to retract a bid before the end of an auction, but only in exceptional circumstances. Remember that number of times you've retracted a bid will be displayed in your Feedback profile.

You cannot place cancel a bid, once you bid on an item, it is a contractual agreement to buy the item. However, if someone outbid you, then you don't have to worry about it.

You get three strikes I believe, so if this is your first time, you're okay. Just be more careful next time (:

Bids on eBay are generally considered final, but sometimes honest mistakes occur and there are ways to cancel bids. Both buyers and sellers have the opportunity to cancel a bid, especially if both parties agree to this, and it is done within a certain time frame. Here is an overview of the bid cancellation process.
