I'm getting a little desperate here. I am a college student, and so having accessible internet is crucial to me. The problem is, I haven't been able to connect to ANY wi-fi.

I had to go home over the weekend because I needed a new charger. My laptop (macbook pro) has never had any issue with connecting up to my home's wi-fi. This time, however, I was not able to. I called my ISP and I found that they were unable to help me. I went back to my apartment, thinking that it was just a problem with our ISP, and found that I was also unable to use the wi-fi there- the wi-fi that I use the most. I was able to connect to the Ethernet. I assume that because it wasn't an ISP problem, that it must be an issue with my mac.

Here's what the issue is: I go into Network System Preferences. Fireware and airport are not connected. Ethernet is connected and is the only way I can use the internet. I go into airport preferences. The status of airport is on, but it says that "AirPort does not have an IP address and cannot connect to the Internet". I am on a network, and my airport status says that I have a strong connection- full bars, but whenever I try to use the internet it says it cannot connect. I am using DHCP and automatic IPv6.

Things I have tried: connecting to different wi-fi, unsuccessful. manually making an IP address, unsuccessful. Turning router and modem off/on/restarting- unsuccessful. Network assistant- unsuccessful. Network diagnostics- unsuccessful (network settings, ISP, internet, server all fail). Ethernet connection- successful, but not ideal for my situation

I know that that is a lot of information to process, but if I were to get some help, I would greeeatly appreciate it, the problem has been causing me stress and I would like to get it solved.

Have you tried deleting your keychain values associated with your router/connection?

Launch your keychain access application and delete any entries related to your wifi. I would restart and try to set up the connection again.
