I want to creat a facebook page for my students? - Diosa - 10-15-2012 10:52 PM

I just graduated as a teacher and I started wroking in a middle school, so I thought I could create a Facebook account only for students to post some homeworks and for them to be involved in a topic of interest while working, but Idont know how to start, I don't know if anyone has don the same who could help me, I'm also thinking what them name could be. Do you have any advice? Thank you.

You may want to talk with your principle to make sure you can do this.
P.S. Make sure you do projects. They were the best! Once we made our own island (created what gov. it was and currency, etc and planed a road trip. kind-of-realistic stuff was the best!)

I've seen it done three different ways.

1. A facebook group/page. This is where you create a group and your students join. They don't have to be your friend.

2. Accept students on your facebook.

3. Make a new facebook account specifically for school and post there. Most teachers who have done this will make their name something like "Bob Smith-RHS." (RHS being the name of the school). The most common seems to be the facebook group/page and sometimes allowing students to friend you on facebook.

AMEN. This isn't a good idea at all. I agree with consulting with your principal. I dare say he/she will shoot it down. Its just too risky. You need to be a teacher, not a friend. You are just asking for trouble if you do this. All you need do is read the papers.
