Maybe this will curb the trend of people having multiple accounts.

They may want to push their "brand" more and it sounds like it's the new CEO's idea - make her mark.

It is probably a very clever way to get rid of a woman in business. The silly cow, Marissa Mayer, is digging her own grave because yahoo users and customers are already dissatisfied with the way things are going now. When Yahoo first did mergers with Google, the Google users were against it and complained that Yahoo being an American Industry would ruin Google's Services and it has. Google is not as good a service as it used to be pre-American Businessmen merging with the Google Investors. Ha. Now, Yahoo is going back to how it originally started likely because it did not improve anything with being in-sync with Google.

I can only guess that it has something to do with being able to track users. The more users with accounts at Yahoo, the more persons they can list as potential clients. Websites are bought and sold based on user traffic. If Yahoo can boast 3 million users, and FB 4 million users then its more of a competitive edge that can move back and forth, between several of the largest internet corporations.

As well with a captive list of so many users, they have a potential client base that they can advertise to, and tailor advertising to. They can also sell the lists of users, along with their demographics.
