Google webmaster tool? - Herman - 05-13-2014 04:11 PM

I installed Google webmaster tool on my page and I receive data and in that aspect everything is OK. But now I installed SEO yoast to my wordpress and is asking me to put a meta value in as a proof I have a webmaster tool account, where I can find that webmaster code to put.

In Yoast:

You can use the boxes below to verify with the different Webmaster Tools, if your site is already verified, you can just forget about these. Enter the verify meta values for:

Google Webmaster Tools: ??????
Bing Webmaster Tools: ?????
Alexa Verification ID: ?????

Hi

Technically if you have already installed the code for analytics on to your site and its working then you do not need to do it through yoast as its already installed and showing you data. Yoast simply makes it easier to install and allows you to insert the analytics code into the plugin and it will add the code automatically to the site. So I wouldnt worry if the analytics is already functioning and showing you data from traffic to your site.

However in answer to the specific question "where to find the code" go to your analytics account and click on admin and then you can select one of the tabs across the top to find the code you use to install the analytics.

You don't install Google Webmaster Tool on your website but you register your site with them. As part of that registration you have to upload an xml sitemap file and a file provided by Google Webmaster Tools to your site.

I think you are talking about Google Analytics which is totally separate process to Google Webmaster Tools. For Google Analytics, you do have to add some code to your site however, for Wordpress, there is a plugin available to handle that.
