If I don't have internet data on my phone contract, can i still connect to free wifi in cafes? - chien-lung c - 05-15-2014 03:57 PM

I pay for 1GB of data on my sim contract, I then lost my phone but got a new sim card. I am now using an old HTC Wildfire which can connect to my home wifi, but whenever i'm out and about and theres no free wifi to connect to it doesn't have internet connection. Is there anyway to get 3G? if not can i cancel my 1GB data and just have a contract with not internet, but still connect to free internets where there are e.g. in costa or train stations etc?

Yeah definitely.
Wi-fi does not use up your data plan.

Is the phone 3g compatible? ask your carrier about data plans.
You don't really need a data plan since there's a wi-fi hotspot like every 5 feet. Wink

Edit: i checked and the phone is 3g compatible. But its all up to you.

You can only get 3G through your carrier. But yea, you can cancel your data plan and still use as much WiFi as you want.

Wi-fi does not use cellular data so you would be fine.
