Why can't google chrome connect to websites? - 899 - 05-16-2014 07:34 PM

Google search and Facebook works fine, but when I go to a website, it shows "Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to http://www.xxxx.net." It goes for all websites I try to go on Sad help?

maybe there's a firewall rule implemented in your computer that prohibiting you to access any other sites

Check whether you are able to ping the respective websites from command prompt with hostname and IP addresses. If you're tech savvy, you can try capturing packets and filter for HTTP/DNS/TCP traffic and check the request and response.

I had the same problem, but neither Chrome or IE worked, but Firefox worked fine. If the problem isnt with your fire wall try this. After a little poking around I found that IE and Chrome both use the same type of means to access the internet so, this is what worked for me.

Open IE and on the menu: Tools -> Internet Options
Hit the Connections tab, then hit the LAN Settings button and UNCHECK
"Use a proxy server for your LAN", then OK both windows.
refresh the browser and both Chrome & IE should work.
