Invasion Of Privacy???? - Dominique - 05-17-2014 03:09 PM

At a certain middle school, the staff and administration have taken it upon themselves to create fake Facebook accounts and add students from that school in order to check up on them. Are they even allowed to do that? Am I the only one who finds this a complete invasion of the students' privacy?

It is legal for the school and the employees from the school to have Facebook accounts.
It is legal to send friend invites to anyone on Facebook unless there is a no contact order in place.
In order to appear as a friend the student would have to accept the invite. Additionally if the student accepted the invite they can remove them from their friends list at anytime.

No I do not see it as an invasion of privacy for the reasons I stated above.

It's part of the government schools Zero-tolerance of common sense policy.

Middle school students live under a totalitarian regime and it is legal. IF you get to go to college you might live in a democracy. For now there is nothing you can do about it.
