The Latest: Try checking the Yahoo Facebook page:

A number of Yahoo Mail users abruptly lost access to their email on Monday night. Two days later, the outage is still ongoing, and customers are growing extremely frustrated with the extended downtime. The company has acknowledged the issue on Twitter, and now SVP of communications products Jeff Bonforte has issued an apology at Yahoo's official blog. The outage stems from a problem in one of Yahoo's mail data centers, Bonforte says, though he doesn't offer any other details on what went wrong. "The issue has been harder to fix than we originally expected," he concedes. "We have dozens of people working around the clock to bring it to a resolution." Yahoo now estimates that it will restore inbox access for all affected users by 3PM PT (6PM ET) today.

The great Yahoo Mail outage entered its third day on Thursday after hardware issues in one of Yahoo's data centers knocked out mail service for many users on Monday night. The Mail problems are ironed out for most people, but anyone who accesses their email with a third-party desktop or mobile app may still have issues.
In an update sent out late Wednesday, Yahoo said it has restored POP mail access for all affected users that access their mail using a third-party client. The company was still working on restoring IMAP service, which (like POP) allows you to retrieve mail with a third-party program. As of 11:00 a.m. ET, the company has not yet said whether IMAP was completely restored.
For anyone who uses IMAP to get at their Yahoo Mail, the company is advising users to access their mail through the Yahoo Mail app for Android or iOS, or on the web.

Yahoo Mail posted this on Facebook Tuesday morning:

"As we posted last week, Yahoo takes security very seriously and is working to protect your inbox. We're shutting down non-SSL access to Yahoo Mail via POP and SMTP starting today.

To prepare for this change, or if you're having network connection issues, we encourage you to check your device's settings and enable SSL connections so you can continue to access Yahoo Mail: http://yhoo.it/1izMz5F"

Your emaill will work when the National Security Administration finishes downloading everyone's mail folders so the NSA can see if you're an enemy of the Obama dictatorship.
