Crackling phone line + bad Internet connection..? - 805 - 05-18-2014 08:55 PM

Hello,
For a few weeks now i've had this frustrating problem:

- Internet connection fluctuates; it wont keep stable (connection works and then doesn't).
- The land line home phone has a very loud crackling sound; which makes calls impossible.

FYI
- the internet is ADSL and there is a filter for the phone.
- the weather has been windy and wet recently.

I think maybe it has something to do with the weather affecting wires?

Help please!
(Thanks for reading)

[of course the internet goes down when i try submitting this the first few times..]

I doubt it could be the weather. But ive had the same problem, check your wires and stuff, or it possibly can be your bad internet connection

Water can sometimes get in telephone "pits" and in cables, especially if there has been wind and rain, this can indeed cause problems as the water can short out connections causing crackling, cross talk, and false busy signals and it can cause problems with internet services as well,if you have a ongoing issue with internet drop outs etc the first thing I would do is eliminate local problems by checking cables and trying replacment cables and splitters just to eliminate any possible problems there, and if that shows up nothing contact your ISP and ask them to check your line condition.

Sounds like you have some type of line fault. Contact your telephone service provider. They can test and pin point the problem and have it repaired.

I had that problem and called the phone company repair service. They hooked me up on a new 'pair' of wires.. Now all is O.K.
