"Mysearchdial" adware wont go away? - 374 - 05-19-2014 09:50 AM
About a week ago I was downloading things onto my computer, when I unknowingly installed spyware/adware called Mysearchdial. Now I did already uninstall Mysearchdial from my computer and I removed it from my extensions in google chrome, but it keeps appearing every time I close and re-open Google Chrome in the Search Engines section in settings, meaning it keeps using the "Mysearchdial" search engine instead of Google search engine, everytime I re-open Google Chrome. I have already tried:
1. Running a full scan with Malwarebytes
2. Running a scan with Hitman Pro
3. Running a scan with adwcleaner
4. Running a scan with "adware removal tool" created by techsupportall
5. Re-installing Google Chrome three times ( I had trouble getting Google Chrome to work after I re-installed it, it didn't open at all when I clicked on the shortcut but eventually I got it working)
6. Manually deleting Mysearchdial from the search engine section in google chrome, but that doesnt stop it from reappearing.
Does anybody know how to stop Mysearchdial from being in my search engine section? Aka how to make sure google chrome NEVER uses Mysearch dial as a search engine again?
Sara - When you said to click on the chrome options and remove Mysearchdial from the search engines - well that's what I do EVERY single time I open google chrome, it never stops appearing in the search engines section. And sometimes it doesn't even let me delete it, as in it doesn't even show the x on the right. Also I already deleted it from the "Extensions".
Sandy - I used the tool, but it didn't' seem to work.

you go to the chrome (right corner 3 horizontal lines) options and take out mysearchdial from your search engines (when you put the pointer on the end of the line an x will appear to delete.
and then go to "tools" get there thru the right hand 3 horizontal lines again - and take out mysearchdial from the search options there.
that worked for me. in the future you can visit bleepingcomputer.com and click on the virus tab and it will have all the recent things in there and what you can do about them.
you may need to check your "add and remove" programs too. Remove webassist and crap like that - that has the date of the download you did 'a week ago' - this goes without saying - but make sure you don't just hit 'next' or 'agree' without reading next time.
