I am trying to sell an 1883 FB Rogers Silver Co Tea Set for my friend who was diagnosed with cancer on craiglist and the person asked me if it is plated or sterling?
How would I know this?

Bear in mind most of the 1883 FB Rogers Co silver is actually silver plate over metal, not solid sterling. The products are good quality, however, due to being quadruple-plated, which makes them more durable and better able to hold their finish than some other companies' products.
About 15 bucks.
