So my mom gave me her 1st generation iPhone & i wanted to install the app Instagram>
it said the app required iOS 3.1.2 , how do i get that?
..but the instagram app says its allowed to be installed on 1G iphone

iOS is the operating system (an operating system is something like Windows or Mac, to put it in simplest terms). I don't think you can get a new version of iOS by downloading it, your best bet is probably getting a new iPhone.
