i am a content writer. want to extend my profile to Search Engine Optimisation. How should i go about it? are there enough SEO teaching courses available in India, precisely in Delhi? or would it be sufficient to learn it online? any websites teaching SEO concepts?

Yes and no.
You need to be very careful. There is not actual book any search engines have to teach. So it is trial and error. Lots of wrong information out there.
Plus most will not tell you all of the secrets only part of them. Kortia tells all and they follow white hat SEO techniques. They use the actual website as an example, plus they give you unlimited Consulting for a entire year.
Every site I have is in the top 5 because of them. I literally make one site after another now and make a very nice income from home.

There is no degree for SEO. It just falls under the umbrella of marketing.
Most SEO experts never took a class and just learned from reading articles online about SEO techniques and thru trial and error.
The basic skills you will need for SEO are:
Know basic HTML
Be a good writer
Excellent at online research and surfing the web
One way to also learn is to get a non-paid internship or apprenticeship with a marketing company that specializes in SEO.
