Tried to save an application form from the internet, but doesn't open in word? HELP!? - Bad girl gone good :) - 05-22-2014 02:25 PM I urgently need this application form, However, when I click the save button at the bottom of the page, and click the saved version from my desktop, the words go all weird. What I mean by that, is some options like Chinese etc comes up and when I click on any option, it is just pages of jumble of letters and symbols. I hope that makes sense, how can I save this form on my desktop and then fill out without having troubles with it! This is the form. http://www.magentastar.co.uk/documents/Online-Application-Form.pdf Thanks for all your help! If there is any questions, just check back at this question I will add some more info. - Laurence I - 05-22-2014 02:32 PM its a PDF and requires ADOBE Acrobat Reader which 99.9% of all pc's have already installed. maybe you think you can open it with something else.....bad idea - Tye Pearson - 05-22-2014 02:40 PM This form is in PDF format and will not open in word. You will need a PDF reader such as Adobe Reader. You can download it here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/ you should be able to open, read, and edit the document. - T68 - 05-22-2014 02:47 PM Works fine for me when I right-click "open in new tab" it opens in my pdf reader (SumatraPDF) You can't type in the form though, it needs to be saved, printed, filled out, re-scanned and then emailed. - Arnak - 05-22-2014 02:59 PM Hi, That is a PDF file so it will not open in word, sorry. You will need a pdf reader to view the file correctly such as :- http://www.adobe.com/uk/products/reader.html It is free. If you just download the file then try a site like this to convert the file to a word file:- https://www.pdftoword.com/ If you get stuck email me and I'll try to do it for you. Arnak - Fred - 05-22-2014 03:05 PM Only Word 2013 allows you to open and edit a PDF. Word 2007 allows you to save as a PDF with a free add-on from Microsoft. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=9943 Word 2010 and newer does not require an add-on to save as a PDF. You need either Adobe Reader or Foxit Reader to open a PDF. I use Adobe Reader as the default to open a PDF even though I have Word 2013. |
