What is "snapchat"? - Michael - 05-23-2014 05:55 AM

I can gather it is a photo messaging application, but I'm still confused at the concept. Can you only send photos? Questions like those answered would be appreciated.

its website where you exchange photos with a caption text and the photos are deleted right after the person sees them. however they are still somewhere out there in the internet and anyone can easily get them if they are good with computers and look hard enough , so i would still be careful at what i post.

It is a text messaging and also photo messaging. However once the recipient sees the message or picture it automatically disappears, so there is no trace of the message or photo from their servers. A lot of people like the app because the txt message or photo is deleted automatically.

Well snapchat was originally made so people can send nudes to people and the person receiving it can only look at the picture for less then 10 seconds. but now many people use snapchat to just send snaps/pictures of funny things or to share their life with friends. I guess you can say it is kind of like instagram but without the urge for getting likes on pictures. You can also put text in your pictures to explain what is going on in your picture or just to type casual text like "hey" ....
so some people would/could send a "selfie" with "hey whats Up"
or a picture of food and "mmm this was delicious"
you can even send really short videos... so if you were at a concert or something, people would send a clip or the concert...
