EBay selling question? - Diamond - 05-23-2014 09:31 AM

I know what to do until Actually shipping what do I do? Where do I get the shipping box or can I use any cardboard box? Do I need a stamp? I need money so I'm trying to sell some stuff

First you need to figure out the cheapest way to ship something.
Probably USPS for most things. Depending on what you're selling, you can either use a bubble envelope or a cardboard box. Use envelopes whenever possible; they're always cheaper than parcels.

Unless the entire package weighs an ounce or under you can't just put a normal postage stamp on it.

You can use just about any box you run across but make sure to black out any bar codes on the box.

The post office provides free boxes but are limited to Priority Mail and Flat Rate boxes.

It seems rather clear that you don't have access to an accurate scale so you will have to box up your item and take it to the post office to pay the shipping instead of printing off the label from PayPal. Shipping rates, except for the Flat Rate boxes, goes by both weight and distance. A single ounce can make a difference in the cost. A box weighing one pound and one ounce must go at the two pound rate.

Without an accurate scale you will have to guess at the shipping cost or offer free shipping and make up the cost in the starting price of your items. Guessing will often cost you one way or the other. Guess too much and the buyer gets angry and leaves negative feedback. Guess too little and it comes out of your pocket.

Always include online tracking or you will be sorry.
