I am new in blogging. I don't know how to understand Google penalty ?

Google penalty is a general term that refers to a negative impact on a website's search ranking based on updates to Google's search algorithms. The penalty can be an unfortunate by-product, or an intentional penalization of various black-hat SEO techniques.

You will loose your traffic and Keyword position(SERPs), mostly this are main symptoms.

Hi Rizwan, Symptoms of Google penalty are seen if you see a sudden drop in your site's rankings from Google or your site is not showing in the Google. Before penalizing any site mostly Google warns website owners through webmaster tools so you should make an account in Google webmaster and link your site to it. You should also make an account in Google Analytics and there are a lot of tools like Moonsy from which you can check your keywords rankings.
When you will do these things and analyze your site's performance at regular basis you will get to know whether it is hit by Google algorithm, have a risk of that or all is going good.

A big penalty is a sudden and significant drop in rankings (organic traffic) to your site. A smaller penalty will be a less significant drop and can happen gradually over time from spam links.
It's easier to prevent a major penalty then remove it after it happens but both can be fixed. I've had issues with my websites before and I used a company called Rewind SEO to find the problem clean things up.
