Which is better for an internet connection?Static or DHCP? - 794 - 05-24-2014 11:52 PM

I wanted a more reliable internet connection. Does any of these two affect internet speed?

No, they won't affect your speed.

It depends on what type of internet connection you are using. Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol changes your IP randomly.

DHCP is a better option but it will not affect your speed in the slightest. It's just easier to use on most operating systems.

This doesn't have an impact on the reliability of your internet connection or speed.

You will want to use a static IP for things like network printers or servers, or if you need to do port forwarding. Otherwise, DHCP is just fine.
