What information does Facebook ask for when you join it? - Deenie - 05-25-2014 02:57 PM

I have a friend who wants to join but wants her privacy. Surely they don't ask for your S.S.#.

no of course not! You only need an email address. Anything else you chose to share is completely up to you. Just limit your "friend" list to your real life friends, change your privacy options to post only to friends and not public, don't fill out random optional "about me" surveys, and most importantly edit what you post to not include personal information including when you are going on vacation and when and where you will be doing certain activities. The only people who have problems with privacy are those who "friend" strangers, share everything with everyone, subscribe to Foursquare, and tag their location everywhere they go. Post wisely and you will have no problems with privacy.
