Okay, just got a profile recently. All of this stuff is new to me. I don't get it. What is following people all about, and the hashtags, and people following me and a bunch of other stuff.

Twitter is a micro-blogging site and its features like following is similar to Facebook. You can Find Friends/ Followers on Twitter by checking the suggestions offered by Twitter as "Who to Follow". Hashtags are words that have prominent searches on Twitter. Example: An event hashtag #Olympics when searched on the search box will show you all tweets made by everyone on this topic. When people follow you, you will get to see in the "Notifications". It will also show you the people who mentioned you, you interacted with, retweets and favorites made.
