How do I change my name on Facebook? - Questioning... - 05-26-2014 03:04 AM
I recently got married and I would like to change my name on Facebook from my maiden name to my married name. I went into settings and hit the edit name icon, but every time I try to change it to my new name it won't let me. I get a message saying,
We require everyone to use their real name on Facebook. If you'd like to add an alternate name, you may do so after you change your name. It also says something about not being able to change your name more then 4 times. I have never changed my name since the day I set up my account with Facebook, so obviously that can not be the reason that I can't change my name. I have sent Facebook a report saying that I am having problems changing my name but of course I have not heard anything back from them. Digging a little bit deeper into Facebook's help section, there is a place where you can input your new name yet again but then they ask you to send a PDF of your ID. I understand that they want people to use their real names but I for one do not feel comfortable with a copy of my personal ID online. I know a lot of people who changed their name on FB after they got married who did not have this problem at all. Any advice or suggestions on how I can change my name would be great. Sorry, but it is on Facebook's problem. You must hope to just they will comply to your request. Or better yet. Make a new account if the problem still occur
