Just about to buy this NET 10 LG Optimus and noticed it had both 2g and 3g up therte, but it is android 2.3 which shuld be all i need to knwo ugh confused

3G & wifi are not the same. They are related in that they are internet connections but different in terms of the source. Phones are capable of running 1G-4G connections if available. You could check at GSMArena.com about the phone to see if wifi is also available for it.
