How can you have internet connections like when your camping ina cabin? - Chris - 05-27-2014 08:00 PM

Is there anyway to have internet connection in a cabin in the woods?

If there is a wi-fi connection in the area or if you have like the verizon or sprint wireless card.

Hey Chris,

Yep there sure is! Telstra have the best coverage for wireless internet. What you would use would be a wireless next g device which is basically just a usb card that plugs into your computer and you can use the internet.

If you have a cell phone and it has signal there, choose a 3G internet (cames with a usb modem, will need a computer or laptop to work)

As long as you can get a mobile signal you should be able to use a usb key. You can pick them up in a store pre-loaded with a certain download limit (so, kind of like pay as you go) or you can get them on a contract with any mobile provider.

You might also be able to twin your mobile with your laptop. Twinning means you are connecting to the internet through the modem that's built into your mobile phone - assuming it has one of course (an awful lot do). Not all mobiles allow twinning and you'll probably need some drivers for it but if you are a little technical then its worth a shot.

Well, how remote is the place?

If it is not too remote, you maybe able to pickup 3G Cellphone signal and then you can use internet with an adapter or through your phone probably... but be sure your provider is there or that you don't get fees for roaming.

i mean, you could purchase and drag satellite internet over, but this is an unrealistic option as it has to be installed, calibrated... and would probably cost a lot.

but, if you are in the woods in a remote area, the chance of picking up 3G is very unlikely.

You can get an Internet Connection *anywhere*; just a matter of how badly $$$$ you want it.

Satellite Internet service plus a generator to power it. You will also have to learn to do your own re-installation to aim the antenna toward the satellite.
