What do you think about this case? - magicknight94 - 05-28-2014 03:34 PM

A 11-year-old school girl stole 2 comic books in a supermarker but got busted by the staffs. As she was too scare to say anything, one of the staff tied her up, forced her to wear a board writing "I'm a thief" and put her in front of the supermarket. Another staff take a picture of her and posted on Facebook. After a while, her parent came and the supermarket fined them then release the girl without reporting to the police.

So, what do you think if this case happened in USA?

I understand that she stole two comic books but seriously, every kid has stolen something in their life. They just don't understand that it cost money and etc. But forcing her to wear a board writing "I'm a thief" and putting a picture of it on Facebook it was over its limits. She is only 11, I mean if it was a group of older kids (or one older kid) who knew better and kept doing it, maybe something like that but what the two men did was pretty overdramatic. and I think her parents would have been there?

If it happened on the US, both employees would be arrested for assaulting a child,

I agree with nar. She is an individual and she has rights, they can't treat her like she's an animal. The appropriate thing to do, would have been to contact the mother straight away. She is a little girl! Not a dangerous criminal!

Assault, kidnapping or false arrest, battery on a child, intentional infliction of emotional distress, etc. Her parents would own the store as part of the proposed settlement.

It's totally illegal and Both staff should be arrested because of harassment.
