So the guy my wife had an affair with sent my wife a request to be friends on FB. What do you guys think?

I think she is being a real woman now and respecting that their contact will forever be tainted and that she should not have contact. Good for her. She should know deep down that its not okay and I hope she continues to make every effort to mend your relationship.
