There's this girl who seems pretty chill, she's in the 2018 class group for my college. I wanna message her and talk a bit and see if she'd be my roommate but I dont wanna come off weird. What should I say?

Your best bet would be to talk to her in person and get to know her first. Friend requests from strangers always come off as weird.
