Quality of Content.
Search for "angelina jolie movies"
search for "Atif Aslam album"
Search for "olive oil vs sunflower oil"
search for "Rajinikanth Birthday"

You will get a clear idea. What google wants as a result.

I guess it's still hard to tell. We can only judge by what Google has officially said about the update and observe what has changed in the SERPs.

However, because Google said they launched Hummingbird a month before the official announcement, and there was little outcry from the SEO community during that time, probably it's not as detrimental as Penguin, for example.

What Google themselves said (if you read SEL reports, etc.)

- It looks not just at main keywords, but at all keywords in a phrase to understand searcher intent.
For example, if before Google could interpret "How tall is the Eiffel Tower?" and "How far is the Eiffel Tower?" in a similar manner and simply provide you with a Wikipedia article, then now it's more likely to return different results (it did for me, I just tried)

- It tries to cater for mobile and voice search users, so, make sure your website is mobile-optimized and learn how voice search works - it's not rocking science really.
