Its a No. There isn't even a World Record that has to do with Social Network Groups. This is simply a very 'nasty' plan to draw people into joining a group for popularity purposes.
Besides, groups aren't meant for purposes like this, I believe that groups are for joining people together with similar intrests in a fun and interactive way.
