i heard many people say that SEO will not work.
Google are penalizing SEO.
is it true?

Google have never told that he is going to panelize seo in future. He is only tighting the screws over web spam in order to improve and more personalize their searches for users.

No its not true. SEO will always be there. Its just that google is changing the way SEO is done. Base line is till the same only the packaging is changing and google itself made it big with it SEO so it can never end it.

First of all define what you mean by SEO.
If you mean creating quality content filled websites with good internal linking structures, appropriate meta tags and fast load times and links to and from quality sites then no, SEO is more important and alive than ever.
if you mean building thousands of crappy irrelevant backlinks to spam filled Markov-chain drool filled pages then yes, its got its little toes pointed up in the air!

SEO can never die as SEO is the main backbone of Internet Marketing. There are many SEO companies who still have lots of clients whose rankings have not dropped though there have been a row of Panda and Penguin Updates. We can definitely say that Black Hat SEO is facing tough times after the recent updates but White Hat SEO still has a long way to go.

Never. Because all search engines uses some algorithms to rank the websites they are indexing. SEO can be done effective if you research on the google rankings techniques.

SEO will always work. And Google are penalizing websites who follow unethical practices to rank high in the search engine websites. Implement correct strategies and so you shall see good results. Hope that helps!
