is my internet security legit? - 945 - 06-01-2014 02:26 AM

I just paid for a new antivirus programme as my Norton ran out. It is called Trend Micro Titanium. A box just popped up saying I need to enable extensions on my computer to block spyware etc, so I went to my Google chrome extensions and saw a 'TrendMicro BEP Extension' and a 'TrendMicro Toolbar'.

I clicked 'permissions' for the BEP extension, it says 'access all data on your computer and websites you visit' What does this mean? Will it see my files and export my passwords to some 3rd party or something dodgy? It seems a bit invasive on my privacy?

The 'permissions' for the Toolbar is 'Access your data on all websites, access your tabs and browsing activity and communicate with cooperating native applications' Is this even safe?

Should I enable both extensions? Please help!!

Trend Micro is a legit company, they do these things, and yes true all-in-one security not just anti-virus require intimate access.

Trend is legit.

But why ar you wasting money on anti virus programs when the FREE ones work just a well.

DO not listen to comptuer Sales Men when it comes to anti virus programs. They are NOT techs.
They will never tell you about the free ones.

I use the Free version of AVAST.

Yes it is legitimate. It is very well known.
