When will the internet improve? - Jon - 06-01-2014 02:58 AM

When will the internet get a lot faster at a reasonable price? At $50-60 per person a month they must be getting enough to improve it to get better speeds and more reliable connections. In my opinion the internet has gotten stuck in this current state of super expensive good internet and decent to poor semi-epensive internet. And then cheap and horrible internet. When will the standards increase and the prices drop?

It's all a matter of perspective. Even if the common speed of internet was 60 or 80Mbps, the packages downloaded would be much larger making the connection seem slow. I have Dish's best internet package and am more than happy with the result. So once 30 - 40Mbps becomes obsolete, it will just appear bad compared to the newest high-speed internet.

Look for it not to improve, but to become more like a cable TV service, where you will have little real choice in which websites you can visit. But of course the speed will be good because those sites will be paying to make sure you can see them and not others which will load, by design, at creepy-crawler speed.
