It doesn't work like that at all.
You buy a new domain from GoDaddy and move your WordPress files to the new domain.

It's really a question for your host. Some if not hosting services may not do that willingly, the name is may at the heart of account allocation, they may be able to flip a software switch to fix it, as suggested you would probably set up a new empty site with the new domain and transfer the old site to it, which can be a pain in some cases, hopefully a complete backup then restore to the new hosting space does it. There may be some special host tools I have not hard of, people don;t just change names that often because you are effectively rebuilding the site from scratch, losing all the incoming links and search ranking.

There are tricks like displaying the old site inside of a Frame on the new site so the new address shows at the top, this is generally bad idea that raises search engine suspicion, it's easy to have more than one domain point to the same site using 301 redirects, but would be easier to have the new name jump to the old site and displayed url.
