how come google chrome isnt working? - 613 - 06-01-2014 09:36 PM

when i went on google chrome it said Unable to access the network
Google Chrome is having trouble accessing the network but the internet is working fine how do i get it to work again?
it also said:
This may be because your firewall or anti-virus software wrongly thinks Google Chrome is an intruder on your computer and is blocking it from connecting to the Internet.
Here are some suggestions:
Add Google Chrome as a permitted program in your fire-wall's or anti-virus software's settings. If it is already a permitted program, try deleting it from the list of permitted programs and adding it again.
Error 138 (net::ERR_NETWORK_ACCESS_DENIED): Unable to access the network.

this is most likely your antivirus program blocking Chrome from accessing the internet. The firewall is blocking Google Chrome because the antivirus program no longer recognizes it - even though it is on the list of permitted programs. To fix this problem, make sure your antivirus and/or firewall software are configured as a trusted application to allow Chrome to access the internet.

Note: The Chrome.exe file to add to allowed lists can be found here: User folder>App Data>Local>Google>Chrome>Application. (You have to have Hide Folders disabled to see the AppData and Local Settings folders).

Have you tried a different browser? What have you done to test the internet?

Switch your computer off and start again.I've had that happen many times but also try disconnecting your wireless network and then reconnecting it first of all. It is working as i'm using it now

Ask yourself: when was the last time I upgraded my computer?
In this case your problem might not be an Internet connection issue, it might be a software issue. Sometimes software doesn't download correctly on certain computers. This issue might have to do with your virus protection. Some protection might prohibit certain critical files from downloading thus disabling the program from running. In this case the problem might be the fact that your computer didn't install google chrome correctly. -Answer: uninstall the program and restart your computer. Then reinstall making sure there are no virus scans or activity going on in the background. Once installed restart your computer and try to open the program again.
(The reason for the constant restarts is for the computer to apply the settings changed during the uninstallation and installation of the program.)
