Can employers see my Facebook profile even if it is private? - harrybelafonte626 - 11-09-2012 08:19 AM

Like, do they have a software that allows them to pry into people's Facebook profile?

I would be very surprised if that was true. It would violate a lot of codes and perhaps laws. You should be fine if you keep everything private and be exceptionally careful about who your friends are. Of course, if you have nothing objectionable for them to see, this is all a moot point.

What businesses can do (through companies like Google) is run incredible searches that pick up any mention of their company, a product, an employee - whatever they want - nearly instantly. If you, say, wrote in a blog mentioning your company, they could read it the next day. I've seen this in action. Be careful, but you should be okay.

No, and that would be illegal.

If your profile is private- set to Friends Only or Only Me, there is no way they could legally see your profile.
