Can I create an ad-hoc for two laptops while one laptop is connected to a wireless internet connection? - markmann79 - 06-02-2014 10:25 AM

I need to do this because my friend is having problems connecting to the wireless internet. I'm thinking maybe he can connect to my laptop and share the internet connection from me. But I think if I create an adhoc my connection to the wireless internet will be lost. We are able to create an adhoc connection for gaming but of course with no internet connection. I was able to create an adhoc connection with internet connection using a cable plugged in my laptop.

Modern laptops usually have two network connections: One wired (RJ45), and the other wireless. Now if you create and connect to an adhoc wireless connection, you will lose your existing wireless internet connection. On the other hand, if you use the wired RJ45 for your internet connection then you can share it via the wireless adhoc connection you created. Basically, when you are on a particular wireless connection you CANNOT use that wireless network to connect to ANY other connection, unless you disconnect it first. I hope my explanation is clear. If not, let me know.
