Is it because:
I have just got a computer and connected it to the internet today
I do not have any anti virus software
There are loads of things on my router
I am connected wirelessly through a wireless USB adapter
Im also downloading a game on Steam

There are walls blocking it is upstairs and the usb adapter came with a cd to install but I have not installed yet, should I?
Cant even download it because my pc crashes...when I click on it

It could be the fact that you're using a USB for the wireless communication. Is it USB 3 or 2? How far are you from the router? Is there anything blocking the path to the router (walls, furniture, etc. can weaken the signal). You could also just have a slow connection speed. How many Mbit/s are you paying for? If it's less than 3 MBit/s that could be a reason. Did the router come with drivers you have to install? If so I would install them

I recommend you getting an anti-virus software. Make sure you don't have any unnecessary background programs running

Infected computer runs real slow.From site http://www.malwarebytes.com install the program,called Malwarebytes and run computer scan.
