Imho I would join Google plus and leave Facebook ,see what you are missing , also you can look up hobbies and join communities.
In addition to this you can also hangout like Skype with your family all over the world thanks .

Well people will always find ways to be mean but Facebook is no different from any other site it has nice people and it has DICKS. But if you enjoy chatting to people, catching up with friends or making new ones then Facebook is for you but there is some messed up stuff on there
