Would I have to ask permission of website to have their link on mine? - Iyah - 06-06-2014 09:27 AM

i am making a website about homelessness and health care and how my city can benefit from helping, but instead of making my own donation site i was hoping to just have my donation button direct them to a nice homeless shelter's donation site. some say that companies make a big deal out of someone using a picture from their site, so i was wondering if speaking of one specific shelter and having links to it would be a problem. at the same time i feel since they are a non-profit organization they would appreciate the recommendation, and i highly doubt anyone will come across my new site anyway.

As long as you are not using text or graphics from their site (as this involves copyright) on your site then you are fine, you can link to where ever you please, if you are promoting their site, then I am sure if you asked them they might have a standard link graphic which you can use and they would be happy for the extra publicity.
