Considering a job change? - firegirlvini - 06-07-2014 02:04 AM

I am a PR executive with minimum experience , 3 months internship, 5 months management trainee and currently a junior account exec for last 8 months ( all at different agencies) .However i am no longer interested in Public relation and would like to focus on content writing or journalism . I understand that the switch would be difficult though i am qualified (Bachelors degree in mass media) PG diploma in Mass communication and public relation and currently pursuing a MA (long distance) in mass communication and journalism. My questions are is there any scope for a person looking at this kind of career switch ? Will i be hired in any publication ?. I have written many authored article for my clients so my writing ability is not bad .I just wanted to know the possibility of securing a job while doing this type of career switch.
I am from mumbai , India looking for a job in the same city

if you want any advice, i would say it is better to stay away from print journalism- newspaper, magazine. People hardly read them these days and they are not profitable anymore. It is better to move into content writing, but content writing wouldn't pay you much and doesnt have any future career growth. Technical writing is however a very good career option and even better is marketing. Once you go into marketing, you will have a lot of opportunities and lot more pay. And please remember that marketing is not sales. You can try for jobs in social media marketing. Look for jobs in naukri.com, socialsamosa.com, jobswitch.com. Good luck
