Ok, this has been happening for the past 3 hours, I clearly have a stable internet connection. I can play youtube videos and go to any other website and everything loads just fine, but when I try to open steam it says that I need to start in offline mode because I'm not connected to the internet. Help please.

Most likely a problem with the steam servers. Should be a temporary problem.
