Let me explain in simple words:
1. h1 tag should used only once and must include your site title and important keywords.
2. h2 may be used several times and may include a summary and secondary headings.
3. h3 -h6 includes the main headings in the content.
4. Always follow the hierarchy strictly.
Search engines picks the heading as an important part of the content.
